Big action against dairy farmers selling expensive milk


 The Karachi administration seized dozens of vehicles supplying milk by taking a major action against dairy farmers selling expensive milk.

According to ARY News, the Karachi administration has started a major action against the dairy farmers who sell milk more than the fixed price of 200 rupees per liter and have seized dozens of milk delivery vehicles in the city and locked them in police stations.

Negotiations between Dairy Farms and Commissioner Karachi failed yesterday regarding the determination of milk prices and could not agree on the milk prices, after which the administration moved into action early today and seized dozens of vehicles.

The official price of milk in Shahr Quaid was fixed at Rs 120 per liter in December last year, but during that time, milk was never sold at the fixed prices and every few weeks it was increased by ten twenty rupees per liter to Rs 200. Gaya and currently milk is being sold at Rs 200 per liter in Karachi.

Sources said that in yesterday's negotiations, Commissioner Karachi gave an indication to the dairy farm owners to increase the price to Rs 170 per liter, but the dairy owners rejected it and said that the cost of milk is borne by the farms.
